Since it’s conception in 2008 in Manchester, Vermont as a women’s half marathon training group, Training for More (TFM) has been a community resource for camaraderie, fitness, health and wellness. As it’s name indicates, TFM’s first group training runs/walks, under the direction of founder, Lynn Grieger, prepared 65 women for the “More” half marathon in New York City. TFM continued to grow in membership and popularity and, in 2011, evolved into both a half and full marathon training program. TFM founder, Grieger, moved to Arizona and, since 2014, the group has been under the tutelage of Road Runners of America Certified Running Coach and American Council on Exercise Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Andrea Malinowski.
Under Malinowski, TFM offers comprehensive training plans and coaching for the novice to experienced runner and/or walker. Whether you’re a beginner looking to cross the finish line of your first-ever 5k or are an experienced runner/walker looking to fine-tune your 5k performance or complete bigger distances such as, 10k, half marathon and even marathon, TFM is the group for you! Beginners will be coached step-by-step in a safe, supportive environment while established runners and walkers will benefit from the group with regard to advice, training plans and counseling to enhance performance, fine-tune skills and grow their running/walking distance.
TFM prides itself on its’ group training structure and strong foundation of support and encouragement between Coach and trainee, and between it’s members. We have all forged friendships which will last us a lifetime and have found out we’re always “training for more”….. More fun, more friendships, more adventures! With the encouragement of both Coach and Team it is easy to stay focused, accountable and determined.
In addition to distance training groups, TFM offers an annual membership for those interested in recreational activities including, but not limited to, running. Pick and choose from hikes, snowshoe events, bike rides of varying distances and abilities, yoga classes, self defense, social events and MORE to tailor your healthy living plan to your needs and interests.
In an effort to offer healthy living options to all, TFM does not discriminate based upon age, ability or gender. We welcome women and men of all ages, abilities and paces, and shapes and sizes. Although training advice and goal setting may vary based upon this criteria, ALL will be included! As with any exercise program, please check with your doctor prior to embarking.
